TeachSIM Systematic Replication Across Diverse Samples of Teachers

TeachSIM has partnered with research teams from Southern Methodist University (SMU) and the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) to systematically replicate the TeachSIM Coaching Study.

As with the original study, the following simulation scenarios will be integrated into the program or course requirements at SMU and UTRGV, respectively:

  • Text-Focused Instruction: Providing specific, actionable feedback during whole-class discussions
  • Classroom Norms + Expectations: Establishing classroom norms and redirecting off-task student behavior
  • Family Engagement: Communicating effectively with parents and guardians

This partnership will allow us to examine whether the coaching effects from the original study extend to other teacher education contexts with more diverse populations. We will be able to examine the robustness of these effects across different populations of candidates, working in diverse geographic locations, and classroom settings.

Data collection for this study will occur throughout the 2021-2022 academic year across sites.
