The TeachSIM Curriculum

Based on more than a decade of research on mixed-reality simulations in teacher education, we have developed a theory of change that guides the design of the TeachSIM Curriculum – our practice-based approach to teacher learning. Our goal is to help teachers develop the instructional skills needed to enact high-quality instructional materials (HQIM) by providing structured opportunities to learn, practice, and refine those skills in a supportive environment.

This new curriculum builds on our previous research on mixed-reality simulations by incorporating generative AI simulations, allowing us to offer practice opportunities at greater scale while still providing meaningful feedback and coaching.

All TeachSIM simulations are powered by our technology partner, Mursion, whose platform enables teachers to interact with responsive avatar students in realistic classroom scenarios.

All lessons within our modularized curriculum follow our instructional model, which integrates knowledge-building in the Pre-Teach phase, simulated practice and coaching in the Teach phase, and reflection to support transfer in the Post-Teach phase.
