3.1 About strengths

Well done with greeting! We are going to move on to the next thing that many teachers do in a conference– talk about what a student does well! Sharing detailed positive information about a student shows the parent that the teacher knows, understands, and appreciates their child.

Based on the background information the teacher received, they know that Katie:

  • Is reading above grade level and loves to read– especially fiction books
  • Is performing close to or at grade level in all subjects
  • Completes her work on time
  • Has really insightful things to say one on one

What we expect is that the teacher will share this information with the parent, along with comments that show the teacher likes the child such as, “and that’s so great!” or “I love having her in my class!”
